Not all saunas are the same. Very often steam baths are identified with the sauna while they are two completely different baths. Steam baths have been known since ancient times in the basin of the Mediterranean Sea. Saunas are an invention of the Scandinavians. There are three types of saunas: dry, wet and steam & herbal.

Dry and wet

The dry sauna is decidedly the warmest one. The temperature maintained therein is about 90-110°C. On the other hand, humidity is as low as about 10 percent. Such conditions cause the skin to dry quickly and the body to sweat.
The temperature in the wet sauna does not exceed 90°C. Humidity stays at the level of 25-40 percent through pouring water on the stones. On the other hand, the temperature in the salarium or tylarium, which is what the steam & herbal saunas are called, is equal to about 45-65°C with much higher humidity at the level of 40-65 percent. In the steam baths, the almost one hundred percent humidity is accompanied by the temperature from 40 to 55°C.

For the active ones

It is worth to combine intensive physical effort with visit in the sauna. During the session, the toxins that gather in the muscles during increased effort are sweated out. Individual groups of muscles relax, nervous excitability and receptor sensitivity decrease, which brings analgesic and calmative effect.
The abundance of rituals is conducive for organisation of so-called ‘sauna party’ in a group of friends. This is an original method for tightening social relations, combined with health benefits.

For relaxation

It is worth to expand the contemplation style of using the sauna outside the high temperature rooms. Depending on how we feel, we spend in the sauna from 5 to 15 minutes, in maximum three turns. Full relaxation is facilitated by a quiet room with recliners, filled with soft light. This is where the body will cool down slowly, the thoughts will quiet down and the body and the brain will find the harmony.

For health

Visit in the dry sauna loosens up, relaxes and even slims. Three visits during one session allow for burning even 800 calories. However, the organism first of all cleans itself from toxins. Use of salarium is proper even for small children. Herbs and aromatic essences in the water steam perfectly inhale the upper respiratory tract. Visit in the sauna has positive effect on the persons suffering from rheumatic diseases. High temperature releases the defensive forces of the organism.

It is optimal for the organism to use the sauna twice or three times a week. Regular visits in this sauna significantly improve efficiency and blood circulation.

For beauty

It is compulsory to wash the body and to remove any remains of cosmetics before entering the sauna. The skin and the hair should be dry in order to avoid burns. Intensive sweating cleans the skin and regenerates it. The cells are better nourished, firmer and more flexible which result in the fact that the persons regularly using the sauna have less visible effects of ageing. After the sauna, the skin is cleaned and moisturised and the blood flow in the skin is better, due to which the skin absorbs any cosmetics perfectly. This is why it is good to apply a nutritious or moisturising face mask on the skin of the face, neck and cleavage before entering the sauna.

For the bold ones

The ones who are searching for extreme experience like to use the so-called Swedish sauna; very dry with the highest temperature possible. One enters it only when the temperature achieves 100°C. However, the thermal shock may be dangerous for the organism.
